Program Description:

Business & Language in Montepulciano, Italy - Fall 2019

Montepulciano Students
 
Following application, the primary mode of communication from the KSU Education Abroad Office and all other KSU offices pertaining to your education abroad program will be to your @students.kennesaw.edu email account.  As a KSU student, you are required to check this regularly.

Program Description

This program will be held at the KSU facility in Montepulchiano, Italy. Students can enroll in 3 business courses that will be completed after 7 weeks and enroll in any online KSU courses. Students will have the option to extend their stay in Europe for the remainder of the semester, at their own expense.

August 17 – October 4, 2019

**Please plan to depart Atlanta on August 17th in order to arrive on August 18th. The program officially starts in-country on August 19th.**


Medical Clearance Form Information
A completed medical clearance form is required by May 1st, 2019 for acceptance onto this program. In order to complete the medical clearance form please follow these steps:
1. Print and fill out the medical clearance form provided in your application or here:

3. Print out this brochure page (or at least the part with the program description)
4. Take the medical clearance form, physical assessment, and program description to a licensed medical provider
5. Once the entire medical clearance form is filled out, please return to the Education Abroad Office via mail, fax (470-578-9171), or in-person

$4,999, The program cost includes accommodation, ground transportation, insurance, cultural excursions, and group dinners Monday through Thursday nights in Montepulciano.

A $300 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of application. This deposit will be subtracted from your total fee.

Payments are broken down into two installments:

June 3rd - $2,349.50
June 17th - $2,349.50

If eligible, the Global Learning Scholarship award amount will be applied to your second installment.

***All KSU students are eligible to apply for the KSU Global Learning Scholarship.***

In order to receive scholarship, students MUST submit the Financial Aid Acknowledgment Form to the Office of Financial Aid (located in Kennesaw Hall; finaid@kennesaw.edu) AND complete the Global Learning Scholarship online application within the date range below:
  • Fall 2019 Programs: May 1st - June 30th

  • If Approved for the Global Learning Scholarship it may be deducted from the 2nd payment installment.
Housing

Students will live in shared apartments in Montepulciano. A typical apartment has two double rooms, one bathroom and kitchen facilities.

During pre-departure orientations, students will receive information on health considerations, travel safety, money matters abroad, cultural adjustment, cross-cultural immersion and sensibility, student responsibilities and course requirements.

Courses

Students can enroll in 3 business courses that will be completed after 7 weeks and are able to enroll in any online KSU courses.  Each student must take at least 2 courses (one of which is BUSA 3500) and can take a max of 3 courses in Italy.  In addition, the students may take 1 or 2 online courses from the KSU Fall 2019 catalog.

**Please stop by Coles Undergraduate Advising in BB 431 and complete your Education Abroad Approval Form prior to submitting your deposit.**

Business Courses:

BUSA 3500 – Culture and International Business, 3 Credit Hours *Mandatory for Business Students*
Recognize the role of culture in business.  Identify the cultural factors that impacts business in Italy and the EU.  Summarize, compare, contrast and explain the role of culture and how it impacts business in Italy and elsewhere in the world.
ACCT 2200 - Introduction to Managerial Accounting, 3 Credit Hours (Prerequisite: ACT 2100)
Gain knowledge and understanding of managerial accounting and how it relates to the business environment.
ECON 2200 - Principles of Macroeconomics, 3 Credit Hours (Prerequisite: ECON 2100 and MATH 1160)
This course provides an overview of the basic principles of macroeconomics.
ECON 2300 -  Business Statistics, 3 Credit Hours (Prerequisite: MATH 1111 or higher)
This course provides an overview of basic descriptive and inferential statistical methods.
IS 2200 – Information Systems and Communication, 3 Credit Hours
Explain the role of Information Systems technologies and processes and their use in business.  Evaluate and implement the appropriate tools and techniques to achieve effective business communication.

Important notes:
*You will NOT be considered for this program until you have paid the deposit and turned in your medical clearance form.  Failure to do so by the deadline will result in not being accepted onto the program.
*Undergraduate business students or students interested in taking business courses must complete the Coles College of Business Course Approval form before your application is reviewed

EDUCATION ABROAD REFUND POLICY & PROCEDURES


APPLICATION DEPOSIT

All application deposits are non-refundable, except in the case of:

*Program cancellation by Kennesaw State University
*A wait-listed student who is not added into the program
*A student who has applied to one education abroad program and clearly notifies the Education Abroad Office--in writing and prior to the application deadline--of his/her desire change the application to an alternate KSU program

Refunds for application deposits will be issued in the same form of payment originally used for purchase.  Please be sure to retain all account information used for purchase and notify the Education Abroad Office (EAO) in advance if there is a problem with your account.  The EAO will not be responsible for refunds sent to closed accounts.


PROGRAM FEES

Upon registration for the KSU faculty-led education abroad academic course(s), the designated program fee, which is separate from tuition, is charged to the student's account.  The student has up to one month to pay the program fee in full, following a specific payment schedule. Failure to pay the program fee in full by the stated deadline may result in deletion from the program.

All program fees are non-refundable. In all cases, the student will only receive recoverable fees, subject to the rules/policies of external service providers.  Any such refund will not include the initial application fee and will not be issued until after the education abroad program is completed.

TUITION PAYMENTS

Program fees do not include tuition.  Payment and refund of tuition will follow the normal processes establish by the Offices of the Registrar and Bursar.  Students wishing to withdraw from any study abroad program or course must submit their request in writing through the Education Abroad Office.
