Ireland - Comparative Business 2019 (Undergraduate)

Program Description

This education abroad trip provides a unique learning opportunity set against a backdrop of one of Europe's most important business centers, Ireland. In addition to the rich culture and history in this European country, students will visit and directly interact with industry leaders as they explore international aspects of business and culture. Ireland has a long and rich history that is home to a vibrant business climate. The country is one of the largest exporters of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and software-related goods and services in the world. Combine this with the inherent beauty of this country and students will realize an experience sure to impact their perspective for years to come.

Medical Clearance Form Information

A completed medical clearance form is required by February 1st, 2019 for acceptance onto this program. In order to complete the medical clearance form please follow these steps:
1. Print and fill out the medical clearance form provided in your application or here:

3. Print out this brochure page (or at least the part with the program description)
4. Take the medical clearance form, physical assessment, and program description to a licensed medical provider
5. Once the entire medical clearance form is filled out, please return to the Education Abroad Office via mail, fax (470-578-9171), or in-person

$3,875 - Cost includes airfare, lodging, ground transportation, some meals, tours, admissions and insurance.

A $300 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of application. This deposit will be subtracted from your total fee.

Payments are broken down into two installments:

March 1st – $1,787.50
March 15th - $1,787.50

If eligible, the Global Learning Scholarship award amount will be applied to your second installment.

In order to receive scholarship, students MUST submit the Financial Aid Acknowledgment Form to the Office of Financial Aid (located in Kennesaw Hall; finaid@kennesaw.edu) AND complete the Global Learning Scholarship online application by the deadline. Keep in mind this program DOES have service embedded and therefore students DO NOT have to complete 5 hours of community service prior to applying for the scholarship.

Safety & Security

During pre-departure orientations, students will receive information on health considerations, travel safety, money matters abroad, cultural adjustment, cross-cultural immersion and sensibility, student responsibilities and course requirements.

Courses

All students will take two courses for a total of six credit hours. Please be sure to stop by Coles Undergraduate Advising in BB 431 and complete your Education Abroad Advising Form prior to paying your deposit.

*BUSA3500 - Culture & International Business (3 credit hours); Prerequisite = MKTG 3100

This course introduces you to the cultural, social, and commercial sides of US and Ireland and Great Britain.  Pre-trip readings and assignments, visits with business organizations, and excursions to historical and cultural sites will help you to gain a better appreciation of doing business with Ireland in general.


*MKTG4490 - International Advertising (3 credit hours); Prerequisite = MKTG 3100 
 
This course examines the diverse influences of culture, society, and business processes on sales behavior in an international context. Implications for sales activities including strategies, tactics, prospecting and planning sales calls are also discussed on a global level.  This education abroad class provides a unique business learning opportunity of Ireland and their commerce, set against the backdrop of some of the world’s most important founding cultures.  In addition to the rich culture and history in these European countries, students will visit and directly interact with industry leaders as they explore international aspects of sales and sales strategy.

Application Deadline

Applications including the deposit, medical clearance form, and Coles College Course Approval form are due FEBRUARY 1, 2019

A $300 non-refundable application fee is due at the time of the application.

Important Notes:
  • You will NOT be considered for this program until you have paid the deposit and turned in your medical clearance form.  Failure to do so by the deadline will result in not being accepted onto the program
  • If you are undergraduate KSU student, you must complete the Coles College of Business Study Abroad Approval Request Form before your application will be reviewed!
  • All undergraduate students must have and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for this program.  Students with a 2.0 or higher can appeal their GPA to the Education Abroad GPA Appeals Committee: https://kennesawstateuniversity-vbzux.formstack.com/forms/education_abroad_appeal

Dr. Tudor has directed, taught or assisted on over 20 different Education Abroad programs. Those programs have visited the following countries: Mexico, UK, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Brazil, Cuba, Great Britain, Ireland and China. He directed or participated in 6 previous Education Abroad programs to Ireland (2003, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2016).

Dr. True has led, directed, created and participated in study abroad programs for four universities to over 30 countries on 5 continents.

EDUCATION ABROAD REFUND POLICY & PROCEDURES

APPLICATION DEPOSIT

All application deposits are non-refundable, except in the case of:

*Program cancellation by Kennesaw State University
*A wait-listed student who is not added into the program
*A student who has applied to one education abroad program and clearly notifies the Education Abroad Office--in writing and prior to the application deadline--of his/her desire change the application to an alternate KSU program

Refunds for application deposits will be issued in the same form of payment originally used for purchase.  Please be sure to retain all account information used for purchase and notify the Education Abroad Office (EAO) in advance if there is a problem with your account.  The EAO will not be responsible for refunds sent to closed accounts.

PROGRAM FEES

Upon registration for the KSU faculty-led education abroad academic course(s), the designated program fee, which is separate from tuition, is charged to the student's account.  The student has up to one month to pay the program fee in full, following a specific payment schedule. Failure to pay the program fee in full by the stated deadline may result in deletion from the program.

All program fees are non-refundable. In all cases, the student will only receive recoverable fees, subject to the rules/policies of external service providers.  Any such refund will not include the initial application fee and will not be issued until after the education abroad program is completed.

TUITION PAYMENTS

Program fees do not include tuition.  Payment and refund of tuition will follow the normal processes establish by the Offices of the Registrar and Bursar.  Students wishing to withdraw from any study abroad program or course must submit their request in writing through the Education Abroad Office.
